Three new members for the Laurentian Ski Museum Hall of Fame.
Three persons from Belle Neige were inducted into the Laurentian Ski Museum Hall of Fame on Saturday October 25, 2008. They are Josée Lacasse, Pierre Vérot and Roger Tanguay.
Josée was a racer that started out in the Belle Neige racing team and climbed all the way to the top, winning numerous Canadian ski championships as well as reaching the podium in a World Cup Race. Josée joins her sister Lynn, who was inducted in 1994.
Pierre Vérot was the director of the ski school for 25 years. Pierre was an innovator, introducing new techniques in teaching, he also ran the first ski school for handicapped skiers. Pierre was instrumental in popularizing snowboarding , freestyle skiing as well as skiing on grass. He is also remembered today as one of the most colourful ski conditions reporter when he was on CIME-FM.
Roger was the general manager at Belle Neige for 15 years, he is the one that put Belle Neige on the map. He also contributed to the advancement of skiing through his work with the Canadian Ski Instructors Alliance and as founder of Sportmania, a wholesale ski travel agency.
